Beate Thiesmeyer paints in acryl, silicate paints, pigments and chalks on canvas, usually in a rectangular format and mixes classical brush painting with frottage, dripping and monotype. Spackling compound and paper collages give her canvases a three-dimensional structure.
Beate’s painting is driven by her desire to explore colour. In her search for her personal colour harmony, she sets mixed colours – warm earthen tones and pastel shades – against primary colours and their complementary contrasts. Her themes are mostly figurative - recognisable references, yet infinitely interpretable.
